The medicinal and Aromatic Programme is guided by the objective to increase the number of species established in the Herb Garden at RDC-Yusipang, II, to initiate domestication trial and document the agronomic practices, to multiply the numbers of plants established either through cuttings or seeds production and to supply of medicinal plant propagation materials to schools, institutes and farmers.

Germplasm collection is an annual and important activity because most of the medicinal plants, unlike the conventional crops needs to be collected from the wild and requires domestication trials. So every year the MAP Programme makes trips to high altitude areas like Lingshi and Soe to collect important medicinal plants’ seeds for domestication trial. Domestication trials are important for medicinal plants as most of the medicinal plants are yet to be domesticated
